PROVISIONAL RESIDENCE VISA FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS FROM SPECIFIC COUNTRIES MAINTAINING FRIENDLY, PROFESSIONAL, ECONOMIC, AND INVESTMENT RELATIONS WITH THE REPUBLIC OF PANAMA

Nationals of the following countries  which maintain friendly, economic, professional, or investment relations with the Republic of Panama are eligible to apply for this residence visa.

The residence visa for Specific Countries is granted for a term of two years, and subsequently, individuals can apply for permanent residence visa with the right to a permanent resident card issued by the Electoral Tribunal of Panama in a second application, upon the expiration of this initial visa.

Requirements for Provisional Residence visa:

  1. Powers of attorney and forms that we will provide for your signature.
  2. Five (5) passport-sized photographs.
  3. Copy of your passport with a minimum validity of three months.
  4. Criminal record certificate from the country of origin or residence, duly apostilled or authenticated at the Consulate of Panama in the country where it was issued.
  5. Certificate of good health issued by a doctor in Panama.
  6. Payment of B/.250.00 to the National Treasury for the right to migratory category. (Certified check)
  7. Payment of B/.800.00 to the National Immigration Service for repatriation deposit. (Certified check)
  8. You must demonstrate the reasons for applying for this residence permit, which may be for work, investment in real estate, or investment in a fixed-term deposit in a local bank. Below are the requirements for each case:
    1. For employment reasons:
      1. Letter of Employment
      2. Public Registry Certificate of the employing company in Panama.
      3. Copy of the Operating Notice of the Employing Company.
    2. For investment in real estate:
      1. Public Registry Certificate of Panama proving ownership of the real estate. Legal entity in which the applicant is the ultimate beneficiary of the shares or founder and ultimate beneficiary of a private interest foundation with a minimum value of USD 200,000.00 (two hundred thousand dollars). The acquisition of the real estate may be financed through a local bank.
    3. For fixed-term deposit:
      1. Certificate from a general licensed bank operating in the national territory, stating the existence of the fixed-term deposit in the amount of USD 200,000.00 (two hundred thousand dollars) free of liens with a validity of 3 years. This investment can be made personally by the applicant, or by a legal entity in which the applicant is the ultimate beneficiary of the shares, contributions, or social quotas of the company, or founder and ultimate beneficiary of a private interest foundation.

To apply for permanent residence visa, you will submit the above requirements, excluding the Certificate of Criminal Records and the checks.

Holders of a residence permit as foreign nationals from specific countries may apply for migrant worker permits contracted by an employer within ten percent (10%) quota, migrant worker contracted by an employer within fifteen percent (15%) quota, migrant worker contracted by a micro or small employer (MIPE/SMB), and migrant worker contracted as executive of an international company, whose transactions are perfected, consumed, or have their effect abroad.
