Visa as dependent of a permanent resident

Foreigners who are spouses, children under the age of eighteen (18), family members with disabilities, and dependent parents of a provisional resident for two (2) years, permanent resident, or citizen may apply for this visa.

The requirements to apply for provisional residence are as follows:

  1. Powers of attorney and forms that we will provide for your signature.
  2. Five (5) passport-sized photographs.
  3. Copy of your passport's complete pages with a minimum validity of three months.
  4. Criminal record certificate from the country of origin or residence, duly apostilled or authenticated at the Consulate of Panama in the country where it was issued.
  5. Certificate of good health issued by a doctor in Panama.
  6. Payment of B/.250.00 to the National Treasury for the right to migratory category. (Certified check)
  7. Payment of B/.800.00 to the National Immigration Service for repatriation deposit. (Certified check)
  8. Proof of relationship, which can be one of the following documents:
    1. Duly apostilled Marriage Certificate.
    2. Duly apostilled Birth Certificate.
    3. Duly apostilled court document for guardianship or custody.
  9. Copy of the identity card of the sponsor, if Panamanian, or the permanent resident card, if foreign, duly authenticated by the National Identification Directorate of the Electoral Tribunal. In the case of foreigners with provisional residence, a copy of the migration card duly certified by a notary must be provided.
  10. Notarized letter of responsibility and Repatriation from the resident or citizen duly authenticated by a notary.
  11. Proof that the resident has sufficient economic solvency, which can be demonstrated by one of the following options:
    1. Copy of the income tax return, with a clearance, showing a minimum income of one thousand balboas per month, plus one hundred balboas for each dependent.
    2. Employment letter with its respective payroll or Social Security record and a copy of the work permit.
    3. Bank certification letter with a balance not less than four (4) average figures.

Observations:

  1. Children over eighteen (18) years old up to twenty-five (25) years old may be requested as dependents, provided they are studying regularly and are economically dependent on the resident or citizen. In this case, they must provide, in addition to the requirements mentioned above, the following:
    1. Certification from an educational institution accrediting their full-time and regular student status.
    2. Sworn statement of single status.
  2. A resident or citizen who demonstrates having guardianship or custody of a minor may request them as a dependent.

To apply for permanent residence, the above requirements will be submitted, excluding the Certificate of Criminal Records and the checks.

This residence visa allows the option to apply for a work permit from the Ministry of Labor and Labor Development once the processing card is obtained.
